UPDx earns CAP Accreditation

To further our commitment to quality patient care, University Pathologists Diagnostics, LLC has earned CAP accreditation. The College of American Pathologists (CAP) Laboratory Accreditation program, approved by The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), is an internationally recognized program. This program has rigorous accreditation standards that help laboratories achieve the highest standards of excellence that meet or exceed requirements of CMS, national and state regulatory bodies. Completing the accreditation process advances the quality of pathology and laboratory services through standard setting and education. CAP accreditation is also recognized by the Joint Commission and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).

Focused checklist requirements continually evolve to reflect current technology. CAP assessors reviewed several areas, including:

Laboratory policies and procedures
Quality management and improvement
Specimen collection, handling and testing
Staff training, competencies and evaluations
Result reporting
Chemical handling
Laboratory equipment and safety
